Stump grinding: get your yard back

A stump is a mowing obstacle, a tripping hazard, and an open invitation for carpenter ants. We grind stumps below grade so the spot can be seeded, planted, or mowed over like it was never there.

Why grind a stump

  • Stop mowing around it and tripping over it
  • Keep carpenter ants and termites from moving in
  • Stop sucker shoots sprouting from a live stump
  • Open the space for lawn, beds, or new planting
  • Finish the job: a removal isn't done while the stump sits there

How the job goes

  1. Mark and checkWe confirm what's underground before grinding near lines and utilities.
  2. Grind below gradeThe stump and surface roots ground down well below lawn level.
  3. Your call on the chipsGrindings can fill the hole, or we haul them and top with soil, ready for seed.
  4. Rake outLeft neat, not a crater surrounded by chips.
What affects the price

Stump diameter, how many you have, access for the machine, and what you want done with the grindings. Multiple stumps priced together always beats one at a time.

Common questions

Yes. Once chips are removed or settled and topped with soil, grass grows fine. Plant a new tree a few feet off the old spot.
Below lawn level, deep enough for seeding and mowing. Planning something specific? Tell us and we'll grind to suit it.
Absolutely. Old stumps, inherited stumps, back-corner stumps. If the machine can reach it, we can grind it.
